HOUSE OF HOPE

Hi there, my name is Amber Buist and I am a Volunteer for The House of Hope. www.houseofhopetc.com

We are currently trying to expand our facility to be able to better help the youth in our community. We are having our first "Garage Sale" fundraiser to accomplish this and we are accepting donations for the sale as well as recruiting volunteers to help pick up donations, work the day of the sale etc.

We are also looking for storage space in or around Traverse City. If you are interested in helping please contact me at 231-943-9315.

If you would like more information about The House of Hope here in Traverse City please go to the webpage listed above or email me at 4Travel@chartermi.net.

Information About House of Hope

Northern Michigan House of Hope’s purpose is to rescue hurting teenagers from the destructive forces invading the world and destroying the family…to offer young people and their families hope and a future through love, Christian counseling and education based on God’s Word.

House of Hope’s vision is to serve as a statewide model for other similar ministries. We are a Christian inter-denominational, residential home and school for restoring teens and their families. Each year we provide teenagers, ages 12-18, a Christ-centered refuge. Through education, Christian counseling and spiritual guidance, administered in a loving, home-style environment, efforts are made to heal the hurts of these teenagers as well as their families. The basic goal is family reconciliation based on God’s promise, “I will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the children to their parents.” Malachi 4:6

We accept teenage girls between 12-18 years of age who have a heart and a desire for help. Our program is structured to be 8-18 months. All activities, school, physical fitness, life skills (cooking, sewing, gardening, etc) are facilitated at House of Hope. All children without regard of race, religion or ethnic background are accepted.

The goal of Hope Academy is to develop a self-disciplined student, who is submissive to the Word of God and the Will of God. School of Tomorrow (A.C.E.) a self-based program is the main curriculum. Students attend school on-site year round-five days a week. State of Michigan certified teachers facilitate the program.

All counseling is done from a Christian perspective and is biblically based. Counseling staff consists of trained counselors, licensed and ordained ministers and trained laymen. Each teen has weekly scheduled private counseling sessions along with group and family counseling.

It is obviously impossible to put a dollar amount on the worth of a child. However, for an abused or neglected youth to get another chance in life, it takes resources. Tuition costs are paid primarily by each child’s parent or guardian. No one is turned away for lack of ability to pay. House of Hope and Hope Academy are not government funded and depends on donors to help meet the needs of our youth.
