Saudi unveils huge Mideast aid package, warns of war
Regional powerhouse Saudi Arabia, a key US ally in the Middle East, warned that Israel’s devastating assaults on Gaza and Lebanon could spark regional war as it announced huge aid packages on Tuesday. The oil-rich kingdom pledged one billion dollars to support Lebanon’s battered currency, 500 million dollars to fund reconstruction of its shattered infrastructure and 50 million dollars in immediate relief for its citizens. They also promised 250 million dollars for reconstruction in the Palestinian territories, reeling under a Western aid boycott of the Hamas-led government as well as the offensive on Gaza which began almost a month ago.

CIA front targeted in terrorist attacks
The May 12 terrorist attacks on the al Hamra, Jadawal and Vinnell compounds in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, which killed more than 90 people, were not merely assaults on “symbols” of the imperialist West. The bombers were also intent on weakening the rule of Saudi royal family.

Five Saudis Released From Guantanamo
US authorities have released five of the Saudis who were detained in Guantanamo, Cuba, following the war in Afghanistan, Interior Minister Prince Naif announced yesterday. In all, over 560 suspected Taleban and Al-Qaeda fighters, nationals of more than 30 countries, are being held by the Americans.
